On a chilly October night in 2003, a crowd gathered at the Fairmont Opera House in southern Minnesota.<\/p>\n

They\u2019d come to see Chuchumb\u00e9<\/a>, a musical ensemble from Veracruz, Mexico, but many already felt like they knew them.<\/p>\n

Over the past week, Fairmont residents had crossed paths with the musicians in classrooms, council meetings, Rotary clubs, and grocery checkout lines.<\/p>\n

By the time Chuchumb\u00e9 took the stage, it was clear that this wasn\u2019t just a concert. It was the culmination of a week of shared meals, music, conversation, and cultural connection.<\/p>\n

It was also the start of something bigger. It was one of the very first Arts Midwest World Fest tours.<\/p>\n
